Teeth cleaning

My long-term predictable restorative efforts depend on the good health of the gums of my patients. Consequently the frequency of recalls of my patients in the hygiene department varies based on their needs. The average is probably 6 months but patients with compromised health of their gums may require a scaling and polishing {cleaning} appointment every 4 or even 3 months. Stretching the interval to 9 or 12 months is generally not advisable. The short-term cost saving benefit may prove to be counterproductive in the long run.

Whitening

Home bleaching:
Tooth whitening or bleaching has been a part of Dr. Jezdinsky's practice for many years. It is a safe and effective way of removing discoloration and stains from the teeth. We will provide you with a so-called take home tray system, which is dispensed and supervised by the office and involves the home use of professional bleaching gels. These gels are used in a custom tray specially designed to fit your teeth.


In-office bleaching:
If you are a candidate for bleaching, we may suggest a procedure that can be done in the office.
In-office bleaching is a quick, easy way to get very fast results. The in-office bleaching technique is performed by using a more concentrated bleaching product on the teeth.

Procedure
A protective gel is applied to your gums and lips. A bleaching gel is then applied to the teeth. Your teeth are monitored and the process is repeated, as your dentist deems necessary. There may be some tooth sensitivity in some patients using this technique.
The process usually takes 1-2 hours, and the results are visible immediately.

In our office, we routinely follow up this procedure by the home method for the additional improvement of the whitening effects unless the patient does not wish to proceed further.
